ALEXANDER SCHANNER, Program Manager, Arge Elga, keynote speaker at 2010 E-HEALTH CONGRESS 26-27 May 2010, Bucharest

Alexander Schanner, Program Manager of  Arge ELGA (ELGA stands for “Elektronische Gesundheitsakte) confirmed his presence at the 5th edition of theE-HEALTH CONGRESS 2010 - The E-Health Revolution: Its impact on medical practice and the economy”.
Nicknamed ELGA, the project is part of the Austrian e-Health strategy. The implementation of a decentralised electronic health record system represents the long-term goal of Austria’s e-Health project.  For the realisation and co-ordination of all these projects is responsible “Arge ELGA” (“Arbeitsgemeinschaft elektronische Gesundheitsakte”, “working group for an electronic health record”) - a group of experts from the social security system and from the field of health IT.
In an interview for E-health Europe, Alexander Schanner said: “We are beginning the phase of planning in detail now”.  He also stated that “there are a number of core projects to be realised first, among them a national patient index, a national health professional index and a web based communication infrastructure”.
E-health Congress 2010 is organized under the auspices of the Romanian Ministry of Health.
