Prof.Dr.Vasile Puscas(photo), Former Chief Negotiator with the European Union talks about Structural Funds for Health


  The first edition of the International Conference on Structural Funds - Managing the EU’s structural Funds for Health in Romania – Opportunities & Good Practice - will take place on the 28th of October, in Bucharest. The conference is organized together with Prof. Dr. Vasile Puscas, Former Chief Negotiator with the European Union, as Special Adviser.

The first edition of the International Conference on Structural Funds will focus on practical sessions offering concrete solutions of accessing European money, but it will present general aspects regarding European policies and principles and how can they be implemented in Romania.

Vasile Puscas, Special Adviser of the Conference talks about structural funds in health system in the September issue of Medica Academica: “For the first time, the health domain is one of the 11 priorities to whom Structural Funds are destined, in 2007-2013, by the European Commission. Even if the Romanian Government did not consider this as a priority, we could identify around 400-500 millions to be directed to the health sector:
a) Specific measures of horizontal health programs
b) By setting priorities in the regional development programs
c) Operational programs selected by the Managing Authority “

Also, he adds that “concrete, the beneficiaries of public and private sector in Romania have the opportunity to visit:
1) The Regional Operational Program (infrastructure- hospitals, clinics, social centers as well as medical and health spa facilities, equipment, emergency medical services, micro-businesses for general and specialized medical services, business support structures, etc..)
2) Operational Program for Competitiveness (science, technology, innovation, e-Health, SMEs),
3) Operational Program for Human Resources Development (training, education, exchanges, IT platform, etc.”
