1st Austrian-Romanian Pharma Forum to be held in Vienna
25-26th March 2010

Austrian Pharmacists Association and the Patronage of Romanian Pharmacists, with special support from the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Salzburg and Tarus Media, jointly organize the 1st Bilateral Pharma Forum Austria Romania, 25-26 March 2010, Apothekerhaus, Vienna.
Although Austria has a stable economy, it has, nevertheless, been affected by the global economic downturn. GDP contracted by 3.5% in 2009 and reports say that the main challenge facing the Austrian pharmaceutical system is rising costs. “Austrian pharmacists are still not allowed to work with generic substitution, the “aut idem” which is common in most countries of the world. This approach would be a quantum leap not only from the point of cost reduction but also the improvements of stock-keeping and advanced pharmaceutical care”, said Mag. pharm. THOMAS MÜLLER-URI, one of the speakers of the event.
On the other hand, in Romania, due to budget deficits and the economical crisis, authorities delayed payments and pharmacists face an unprecedented situation.
Having in mind these new business challenges, specialists need to generate opportunities for development. They will debate the role of pharmacies in implementing modern care and will try to identify new means of tackling crisis.
